Is laser hair reduction treatment safe?

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular, well-known and researched uses of laser in the aesthetic medical field. Our Soprano XLi laser has provided permanent hair reduction for thousands of patients worldwide, successfully and safely since it was given approval by the U.S. FDA in 2005.

How many laser treatments will I need?

There are several factors that can affect the success of a course of laser hair removal treatment, but typically, after each session, you'll see a permanent and noticeable reduction in the number of hairs that re-grow in the treated area. Typically, it will usually take 6 sessions to permanently reduce the number of re-growing hairs by more than 80%, six months after the last treatment. Some people require as few as 4 or up to 8 sessions to get the full effect.

Will my hair ever grow back again following laser hair removal?

The simple answer is no, the hair will not grow back. Once the hair root is damaged, it is not able to grow new hair. However, there are always a few follicles that partially evade the laser during each treatment session. Some of these follicles may be only weakened and will need to be re-lasered.

Do I need to plan to take time off for the laser hair removal treatments?

Not at all. Our Soprano XL Blue painless laser hair removal requires no recovery or down-time. You can have a laser hair treatment and return to work straight away.

How do I know laser hair removal won't hurt?

Treatment at our clinic in Richmond with our unique pain free Soprano XL Blue laser is very comfortable. Although pain tolerance varies between people, patients often describe the feeling as quite soothing. If you find your are experiencing any discomfort, please talk with your therapist.

Which skin types are suitable for laser hair reduction treatments?

Ace Aesthetics offer laser hair removal using the unique painless Soprano XL Blue technology which works on all skin types and most hair colours. The low power IN-motion technology with gradual heating of the hair follicle pigment means all colourings can be suitable, from fair to black skin.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

Laser hair removal costs vary according to which area of your body is being treated. Compared with a lifetime of shaving, waxing or plucking, our laser hair removal is affordable and a worthwhile investment in both the time and money you will save. See below for more information on our laser hair removal prices.

Do men also have laser hair removal?

Yes. Laser hair removal treatment for men is very popular. Common laser treatment areas are the face, chest, back, neck and ears. We also have a dedicated website for laser hair removal for men.

How does painless laser hair removal work?

The laser beam is made up of precisely controlled pulses of energy; it is absorbed by the melanin or pigment in the hair and reaches into the hair follicles that lie beneath the skin. The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, safely destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin.

What does the laser hair removal consultation and test patch involve?

A laser practitioner will explain to you the laser hair reduction treatment procedure and examine your skin and hair type for suitability. A test patch is carried out to determine the best treatment settings and to avoid over-dosing the skin.

Are there any side effects from laser hair removal?

Redness or some swellings to the skin are short term side effects following each treatment and this usually settles within a few hours. If the skin is a more sensitive type, it may take a few days for the redness to disappear completely.

What should I avoid before and during my laser hair removal treatment course?

Try to keep the skin as natural as possible, avoiding sun exposure, sun beds or self-tanning products, skin peeling products like glycolic acid (AHA creams) and Retin-A cream. Also be sure to tell us if you have been taking any tablets for acne such as Roaccutane, which must be discontinued prior to treatment. During your consultation, we'll review any medications or supplements that you are currently taking to help determine the appropriate fluency for your treatment.

After care following laser hair reduction treatment

Avoid heat stimulations such as hot baths or showers, saunas, and steam. Avoid cardiovascular exercise and swimming as the chemicals in the water may cause irritation. Also, perfume, body lotions, after-shave, make-up and deodorant should not be used as they may sting the skin. You may apply an aftercare product such as Aloe Vera to help the skin recover. If you have any adverse reaction or you are concerned, please contact the clinic so we can assist you.

What do painless laser hair removal treatments involve?

We ask that all patients shave the area of treatment prior to their appointment as this saves time. Our aesthetician will then apply a cool gel. The laser will then be positioned gently against the skin and subsequently pulses of intense light are delivered into the hairs and thus destroy the follicles. During the time of treatment some of the hairs within the treatment area may fall out however the true extent of this may not become apparent until some 14 days post treatment.
